I still love the under-the-counter convenience of this coffee maker I still love the under-the-counter convenience of this coffee maker, but Black & Decker certainly didn’t improve anything with this new design. The water reservoir is more horizontal in design (like a drawer) rather than my previous model which was designed vertically (like a pitcher). Works OK, but I still liked my old one better I purchased the Black & Decker Spacemaker 12-Cup Coffee Maker (model SCM1000BD) to replace an older Spacemaker (model ODC325) because the older unit ceased functioning. (The element that heats the water burned out.) I liked the older coffee maker better for a few reasons. It was more compact compared to the new style. Basic and useable. Easy to install if you have flat bottom cabinets. If yours have a lip, you’ll need to use a spacer. Mine had a 3/4″ lip so a 3/4 plank cut from some plywood made an excellent spacer. Mounting holes are drilled through the bottom of the cabinet so the spacer just becomes part of the assembly when it’s all over. It’s a basic coffee pot that doesn’t use up counter space. What more could you ask for?
