A fast, easy, and space-saving way to brew black or flavored coffees or any variety of teas, this 8-cup (1 liter; 32 ounces) thermal press pot brings versatility and calm to the daily routine. The handsome stainless-steel unit sports a polished finish, as well as a unique double-walled design that keeps its contents hot for up to two hours–no more preparing hot drinks in a coffeemaker or teapot and then transferring them to a thermos to keep warm. Even more, its stainless-steel plunger features a fine mesh filter assembly that eliminates the mess and waste of disposable filters and helps to retain coffee’s subtle flavors, resulting in a delicious alternative to the diluted taste that occurs when brewed through a paper filter. Additional highlights include an oversized ergonomic handle for a steady grip while dispensing or transporting, a handled safety lid that twists closed to prevent liquids from splashing or heat from escaping through the spout between pours, and an included measuring spoon and instruction manual. The thermal press pot cleans up quickly in the dishwasher and measures approximately 5-2/7 by 6-8/9 by 8-1/2 inches.Ideal for home or office, this French press coffeemaker doubles as an insulated thermos so coffee stays hot and fresh for up to two hours. The pot holds 34 ounces (1 liter), nearly seven 5-ounce cups, and can be used for brewing tea as well as coffee. It’s made of stainless steel polished to a mirror-finish, has a large, comfortable handle, and is dishwasher-safe. The lid seals in heat remarkably well and turns to prevent heat from escaping through the spout between pours. The pot stands 8-1/2 inches high, including the plunger top. –Fred Brack

If you want to keep it hot, get this one. Already pleased with the mama-sized one we bought years ago for coffee, wanted this big daddy for loose leaf tea. It is THE BEST. What sets Bodum apart from all other dual-wall stainless French Press pots is the lid: Bodum’s, when in the “closed” position, totally seals off the pot. Other pots we have tried don’t even have a lid-top indicator of open (to pour) and closed (to retain heat) positions. But most importantly, those inferior models, when closed, leave a significant gap so…

Not all stainless – Plastic parts inside Attempting to avoid paying the rather steep price for the Bodum Stainless coffee-press resulted in my sampling three separate pots (Secura, Francois et Mimi and the Bodum Columbia 51 oz) from Amazon. Both the styling and craftsmanship in the Bodum pot are very good. It feels somewhat luxurious to handle and the pour spout is excellent. That said, there are a couple of shortcomings to the Bodum. The lid does not fit quite snugly – there is a tiny bit of play. The biggest shortcoming to the…

More plastic parts in contact with the hot water than the glass version and yields weaker coffee due to the silicone gasket While the Bodum Columbia Insulated French Press Coffee Maker Pot is very nice, it is also a bit of a disappointment. I have been using glass French presses for well over a decade and Bodum is my preferred brand. I wanted to switch from the glass container to the stainless steel one for two reasons. The first was to keep coffee warmer on cold days when the glass one tended to cool down too quickly even with the Bodum insulated cover. The second was to move away from the plastic in the glass…
