Does open cans I really liked my original Black and Decker under the counter can opener so I bought this one to replace the old one which served me for two decades or more. B&D tried to make a great product even better but failed. This is not as good as the old model. First regarding quality, the door/cover is not needed, gets in the way and will not stay closed. It’s been woroking great so far Our old B&D Spacemaker finally gave it up so had to purchase another one. Of course the holes didn’t match up to the new one but that was not all that important. The first of two drawbacks i had during installation was I had to add several spacers (including a couple from the old opener) in order for the door to open and close. Wish I had not purchased it. Attached installation hardware is not adequate. Will not hang low enough to my satisfaction under a cabinet (standard).It gets a single star because it advertisement is bogus. Difficult installation and difficult to operate. A can opener should be SUPER easy to work, but this one is maddening!!!!!!!I wouldn’t recommend this junk to my enemy.I looks good, but that where it ends.
