Simple function and visual elegance combine for the optimum extraction of full rich-bodied coffee with this hand blown Chemex coffee maker. Featuring a borosilicate glass construction for long lasting durability, it has a polished wood collar and leather tie. This unique style of coffee maker allows you to make coffee as strong as you like, without the bitterness, because the coffee only comes in contact with the scientifically designed filter and non-porous glass. This merging of form and function came out of Chemist Peter Schlumbohm’s taste for fine flavor. Applying the techniques used to insure laboratory purity, he set out to brew what may have been the first cup of truly clear, full-bodied coffee, free of undesirable fats, oils, sediment, and, most of all, bitterness. Made in the USA, it has an easy to use design. Simply place coffee in the filter inside the coffee maker, and pour in boiling water.

5-3/4″ diameter x 9-1/8″ H, with a 30 ounce capacity

Beautiful Coffeemaker That Makes Excellent Coffee Yes, there really is a difference between this hand-blown carafe and the manufactured variety; I have one of each. The manufactured carafe works just as well but the glass on the hand-blown carafe is thicker and heavier; it feels much sturdier. Looks very elegant! It remains to be seen if over time the hand-blown carafe wears better.

Handblown preferable to less expensive models I really like the thickness of the glass in the handblown version of this coffee maker. The cheaper version feels cheaper as if one tap would break it. I took a deep breath and ordered this more expensive model and am glad I did.

Chemex Coffee Carafe The classic coffee maker… love it. Great design and makes THE BEST coffee. We have french presses, drip coffee makers but this is the best. It is a drink and go… no heating element- fill your cup or travel mug & drink it!
