I have enjoyed excellent coffee with this thing and have never had … I have used this thing for over a year now. It has been through some tough times. I bring it with me on military duty. After quite a few drills many of my Army buddies ended up buying one. I have enjoyed excellent coffee with this thing and have never had it break on me. I was careful at first due to all the reviews, but now I’ve been a little rougher with it and I have yet to break it. It still boils fast and hot. I would recommend this for anyone. Perfect Replacement for Chef’s Choice Unit-Edited 8/28/16 to Not Recommend 8/28/16: OK, less than two months in mine no longer works. I went to turn it on today and nothing. I kept hitting the button and the light flashed on, then off. I have treated it with great care and the electrical parts have never gotten wet. It’s a shame because this is such a great concept. Not sure why it is so difficult to make a unit that works, it’s really just an electric kettle with a french press insert! Do not buy.
Shuts off before water starts to boil. I have used it since I first received it on Dec. 10 it is now Dec. 25. Great concept but has problems. Last night when I started the process the red light started to blink which means it has reached it temperature and is shutting down. The water did not come to a boil ? After letting it sit for a day and trying again the results were the same it starts to heat up but then it shuts down.
