The POUR OVER promises excellent, rich taste and robust aroma while maintaining the natural oils of the ground coffee. For the perfect cup of coffee, simply fill the cone-shaped filter with freshly ground coffee and pour a small amount of heated water over them until soaked. Slowly pour the remaining hot water into the filter. Coffee will drip into the mouth-blown, borosilicate glass carafe and, in 3-4 minutes, will be ready to serve. Remove the filter from the carafe before serving and enjoy!

Better coffee than the electric coffee machines! Excellent coffee maker in place of an electric coffee maker. Makes good coffee. Buy cone filters (#4) to put in the Bodum’s own Permanent Filter to get a better brew and won’t get the grinds at the bottom of the coffee maker.
Much better than the french press I was looking for a way to make coffee that was (1) easy to use, (2) easy to clean, (3) environmentally friendly and (4) made a great tasting cup of coffee. So far, this has fit the bill in all ways. The only downside I can see is that the coffee gets cold quickly (it’s in a glass carafe, after all), so I find myself making two batches sometimes. Other than that, it is absolutely wonderful.
Filter shape not right for pour over I got this in order to have a pour over option without having to use a filter. The other pour over models I have are shaped like funnels while this bodum one is shaped like a regular drip coffee maker cone. Since the Bodum permanent filter is like drip coffee ones, the water drains through the coffee too quickly and creates a very weak cup of coffee. It might help to add a paper filter but that defeats the purpose. I would send it back, if I didn’t like the carafe so much. Think I’ll use…
