Water well smells of plastic! have had this model 5 yrs ago made great coffee too. Now the inside where the water goes smells like plastic no matter how many times I ran water through it. I thought the heating element like all new things smelled awhile but it is actually the water tank and it smells in the coffee too. This older model was around $55 but I paid twice that because I like the FRONT OPENING to removed the coffee grinds as the pot is under the upper cabinets. Disappointed. The carafe doesn’t drip when you pour. The basket doesn’t drip on the hotplate when you take the carafe out- Fairly fast, at least while new (they all slow down with age). Love this coffee maker …. buy it now because it is being discontinued Been searching for this coffee maker to replace my old one. Tried the “newer model” and didn’t like it. Only kept the coffee hot for 2 hours and this one has the ability to set it for up to 5 hours. Since my office is in my home, I really wanted the 4- 5 hour option. My only comment is that this model used to have a stainless steel front area where you load the coffee so it was better looking. Still works great but is less attractive.
