Hamilton Beach 40715 Espresso Maker

You can’t visit your favorite European café every weekend. But when the aroma of this Espresso Maker’s rich, café-quality espresso reaches your nose, you just might be able to pretend. The powerful 15-bar Italian pump extracts cup after cup of rich espresso. Use ground coffee or pre-measured pods, it’s up to you. An easy-fill reservoir holds 40 ounces of water, and unlike a steam machine, additional water can be added without turning the power off. Like cappuccinos, mochas, or lattes? The no-fuss frother turns milk into froth in just a few seconds.

Make multiple cups

Two brew head spouts allow for simultaneous brewing of two cups of espresso. Serving a crowd? The easy-fill removable water reservoir holds 40 ounces. And unlike a steam machine, you can add water without turning the power off.

Café-quality coffee drinks

Easily make delicious, rich lattes, mochas and cappuccinos in your own kitchen at any time of day. Perfectly steam or froth milk for a variety of authentic, café-quality beverages. Adjustable steam control takes milk from steaming hot to stiff, scoopable froth in just a few seconds.

Easy to clean

With a removable drip tray, cup rest, frothing nozzle, filter holder, brew head and water reservoir, clean up in warm soapy water is a snap. After steaming milk, hold a cup of water under the nozzle and “steam” into the cup to clean.

Step-by-step instructions included

Everything you need to make the perfect cup is included, and the easy-to-use design will turn you into a home barista in no time. Flexible coffee options

Use fresh-ground, dark, espresso roast coffee, or grind your own beans. Espresso beans may be ground in a coffee grinder. For best results, use the Hamilton Beach Custom Grind coffee grinder on the espresso setting. If grinding espresso in a store or using a burr mill, use a setting that is one to two notches coarser than the espresso setting. Espresso pods make it even easier to brew a great cup of espresso, and cleanup is as easy as throwing out the used pod. Pods can be purchased at local coffee shops, specialty housewares stores, or online.

Good crema, nice cup size This machine, with the proper grind of espresso (in other words not Folger’s drip or something!) produces as good a cup as I have ever used. And I’ve had some fairly impressive Italian units. I especially like that the clearance from the portafilter to the base is longer and allows the use of a slightly taller cup for those times when I let it run longer for more of a cafe Americano. The pump inside is Italian, so that may be the reason for the better than average performance in this price…

Finally Figured It Out! I received this as a Christmas gift from my wife and kids. I will be the first to admit that I love a good cup of coffee and a good cappuccino, but as for the technical aspects of the art of being a barista, I am a complete novice. I knew nothing about expresso’s or crema. I spent the next few days on Youtube looking at espressos being made and reading up on the subject. Afterwards, I figured I was ready to give it a try. My first attempt was embarrassing. It made a great cup of coffee but I…

Works fine for the price First, I work as a barista with a really good machine (rancilio). This is far from it. But it does the job as describe. You have to wait a bit for the steam and you have to wait for the machine to warm up between the shots a lot especially if you are doing a long espresso. But I’ve seen worse. I’ve had the machine for a couple of years but I don’t use it much.
