No burned taste This is the second coffee maker of this model. The on off button quit after many years and it was time to buy another. We had replaced the lid as the gasket wore out on the original coffee maker at a cost of $15 at e replacements site. Now we have an extra carafe, and basket as we will continue to use the old ones. Great if you only need it to work for 15 months! I really liked this coffee maker, enough that this was the second one I bought. The first one lasted 15 months and I thought maybe it was because I started using it more often. I went from making 2 pots twice a week to making at least a pot a day. But one morning I started a pot and when I went to pour a cup, there was water all over the counter. I can’t say where it leaked from, but the water reservoir was empty and no coffee.
