The programmable timer/auto on sets the start time each day and has a 1-3 cup flavor setting to maximize flavor extraction from small quantities of coffee. There is an audible signal indicating when the machine is done brewing and a popular pause and serve feature allows interruption anytime during brewing. After brewing, the heating plate time is adjustable from 1 to 5 hours. The 60 ounce water reservoir has a detection feature which shuts the unit off if completely empty has a built in water filtration system to remove chlorine and limescale buildup. Beautifully styled with a blue illuminated LED control panel for easy of use, it has a soft eject filter holder for smooth control swing out action, and easy pour 12 cup glass carafe with no drip spout and ergonomic handle design. Krups Death Spiral This is my fourth Krups coffemaker in 20 years. The first was a 10-cupper that was a wedding gift and it soldiered on for 12 years. Upon its demise, a new Krups 12 cup unit with a built-in clock filled its countertop spot. About four years into its service it died without a blink or a peep. Krups – not as good as it used to be I had a KRUPS for years and loved it. So when I changed colors in my kitchen, I decided to buy another KRUPS. At first it looked cool but the white gets stained easy and the quality isn’t as good. The glass carafe used to have a metal band around it with a removeable lid. Now the handle is glued on and the lid is attached which makes it hard to put in the dishwasher. The coffeemaker is all right, but if I had to do it over again I would pick something else.
Krups Catastrophe I thought this would be a top of the line product. It is poorly made. The filter holder broke the first week where the spring attaches at the top. The top gets hot and causes it not to fit properly making it virtually impossible to repair. I had to use tape across the top to hold it down so that it would keep the filter holder in place. I can’t tell you how many times it would fall out, spilling coffee grounds everywhere! I have tried to contact Krups, but cannot get through to their…
