The Bodum Bistro Automatic Pour Over Coffee Machine with Thermal Carafe comes with a removable water tank, a powerful spiral heating element that brings the water close to a boil and keeps it there while transporting it through a glass pipe over to the coffee filter. There it gets distributed evenly over the ground coffee through an easy to clean shower head that’s made of plastic with an inside coating of silicone. It’s the silicone with its polished smoothness all through the shower holes that keeps chalk deposits at their absolute lowest and the hot water where it belongs – flowing unobstructed onto the ground beans and brewing excellent coffee.
Product Features
- The water gets quickly funneled through a tempered glass tube from the water tank to the shower head, consequently preventing heat loss and conserving the ideal water temperature
- A large shower head replaces the traditional drip system: The water spreads evenly over the ground beans and evenly extracts, resulting in a balanced, flavorful cup
- The coffee brews at its ideal temperature as a result of the powerful heating element
- The permanent, stainless steel filter is fine-meshed for ultimate aroma delivery – no more paper filters that hold back the essential oils needed for a full-bodied aroma
- Very quiet and quick – your coffee is ready in less than 6 min
Even though the Bodum is basically all plastic it is more sturdy than the Bonavita and is easier to take apart … Despite the luke warm reviews I decide to try this machine out after my Bonavita died after nearly 2 years of use. Even though the Bodum is basically all plastic it is more sturdy than the Bonavita and is easier to take apart for cleaning. Only draw back is the price, but both this and the Bonavita are the same price $130.
Fine coffee, no problems I bought this coffee maker from a local retailer seven months ago and have been using it at least once daily, sometimes more frequently. It makes fine tasting filter coffee. I haven’t had any of the durability or build quality issues others have reported.
I would say “Good,” but just not quite “Great” I found this on sale at another online retailer, and since they had an option for local pickup, decided to splurge. Well, after a couple weeks, I took it back.
