This is a new model because it does not look or operate the same as our previous model but, nonetheless it still works the same. When a product works perfectly it should just be left alone. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. I had a Mr. Coffee Iced Tea Maker for years and finally needed to replace it. It’s not the same though and the brewing process has changed. There used to be a lever on the side of the brew basket and the water went through much slower and accumulated in the basket so that the tea could steep. I thought the one I just received was defected and the replacement is the exact same way. No lever to adjust how long the water stays in the basket. The water just goes through and the tea is weak…
Don’t follow the instructions if you want strong tea. Like other customers I had hoped that this would have the lever that would let you control the brewing time. I was ready to trash it when my husband figured out how to get the strong tea that I like. Put the water in the machine, but do NOT put any water in the pitcher. Let the machine brew up to the bottom water line, then add more water to the machine, and let it brew again. Repeat this process until you have a full 2 quarts of tea.
