Recommended, but DO NOT TAMP DO NOT TAMP! The manual states this, but the instructional video shows the filter basket being tamped using the back of the scoop. This is a very impressive device, and I really enjoy it. But if you tamp the espresso in the filter basket, you will blow out a seal in the pump. I was able to disassemble mine and fix it, but not without nearly breaking it.

It is great I’ve been using the MiniPresso daily for 3 months and it has been great. If you are looking for a legit espresso, then go spend $1000 on a good espresso machine but if you are a broke college student like me, this will let you make lattes astronomically better than whatever Starbucks can make.
