I bought these a few weeks ago as a replacement … I bought these a few weeks ago as a replacement for my RPWFE filters. Yes, they aren’t supposed to replace the RPWFE, but if you buy the RPWFE filters from GE, they’re right at $50 each and–from a filtration perspective–do nothing more for you. The only thing you get with the E filter is the six month timer that displays on the little monitor on the refrigerator door. Handy, sure, but in no way worth paying 4x as much as these filters. So these filters on their own won’t work in replacement…
So far, so good I ordered these filters from Amazon and installed the first one about 2 weeks ago. Excellent flow rate from water dispenser and the tap vs filtered water taste-test, done blindly by myself and my wife, noted a significantly improved taste with the filtered water. I have bought other knock-off brands for the last 2 years since buying the refrigerator, and have never been satisfied with the taste vs tap, or the life of the filter which seemed about 2 months, tops, before the flow began to…
Works great for me as the water tastes as good as … Works great for me as the water tastes as good as the OEM filter, and the price is right. My GE fridge requires the $50 RPWFE filter every six months or it has a tantrum, but instead I taped the RFID chip that came on the filter bypass plug the fridge came with to the dispenser compartment wall approximately where it would sit if attached to a $50 filter. This chip is different from the ones that come on the OEM chipped filters in that it never times out, isn’t uniquely identified by the fridge…
