Replacing filter revealed o-ring leak issue with fridge? I think I know exactly what happened to another reviewer here, because it happened to my wife today trying to install this OEM water filter. She thought it was installed correctly, but ended up leaking water all over the fridge, out onto our (newly refinished) floors. After turning off the water and cleaning up the mess, I tried to get the filter installed myself; same leaky result. I pulled the old GE original MWF filter out of the garbage and compared the two: the GE filter had a black O-ring…

Buyer beware. Makes water taste better but does not remove dangerous contaminants. This filter appears to be worthless. It says that by not mentioning NSF/ANSI Standard # 53. This is the standard that addresses the water content that could cause health effects. Those are things like lead, mercury, asbestos and various other nasty stuff. I expected (stupid me) to find test results for std. 53. Nada. GE filter costs 5 times as much but actually removes bad stuff.Standard 42 addresses only removal of “chlorine taste” and “nominal particulate”.

Filters work great! I replaced the GE filter upon receipt of the three pack. The new filter has been in use for couple of months with no issues. The price is cheaper than the GE filters and work. I have not noticed a difference in filters. These are on my list of items to buy again!
