Genuine GE replacement filters This GE water filter normally comes as a single item in a GE box. With previous bad experiences with non-boxed items bought online (e.g. ink cartridges) I was ‘nervous’ about this pair of unboxed filters. I am happy to advise that they arrived very promptly and are the genuine GE RPWFE filters, brand-new, with the factory shrink-wrap protection and RFID chip included. This chip is essential when changing filters because it ‘talks’ to my GE refrigerator electronics and resets the display expended filter warning automatically for another 6-month cycle. This reset cannot be done manually. The RPWF filter (without the E) does not have the RFID chip and is not suitable for my refrigerator – the water system shuts down. The price for the pair of RPWFE filters was about 10% less than my local appliance store. I am happy with the price , the prompt delivery and the brand- new GE quality.

Filter for GE Cafe CYE22TSHESS I have a GE CafeÂ Series Refrigerator Model #: CYE22TSHESS . This is the correct filter for that fridge. Purchasing through Amazon is basically the same price as GE but cheaper if you have Prime because of the free 2 day shipping.There are very simple instructions on the canister for how to replace the filter. What it doesn’t tell you is that about 3 seconds after you start running the water through it there will be a huge spurt of air and water will splash everywhere. So be sure to keep whatever container you are catching the first gallon of run through water in is as close to the water spout as possible to prevent an emergency mop up.

May need to fiddle with it to get it to work Wrong part – this is not the RPWFE type in the picture on the Amazon website and does not fit my fridge. It lacks the ID tag to let the fridge reset and operate. I do not know why GE kept the same part number for both – RPWFE when they are clearly different. In picture my filter on left – which is the same as pic on Amazon website (note bottom of filter) – filter sent it on right with box.Revision – I got it to work after all – it does have the chip. I reinstalled it a couple times and made sure to push it hard against the wall of the fridge so the chip was close to the reader and it worked. The fact that the bottom shape and water end is so different is disconcerting but it seems OK so far.Four stars because of high cost – GE’s fault, not Cheddy’s. Despite outrageous cost the GE &(^%*& still had to make it in Mexico – got to make sure the CEO gets that 3 mil bonus this month so he can buy a new manion / boat / whatever.
