Glass pot to replace the terrible plastic ones to eliminate noise – Yes I said noise! Excellent quality and a solution to the annoying sounds coming from our Bunn coffee maker! We purchased the Bunn Model# VLPF two pot automatic coffee maker for our office. Unknowingly, I purchased the high-impact-resistant (plastic) coffee pots. From day one, when the coffee pots would get about half empty, they would make the most annoying and loud spitting, popping, rumbling sounds. (This was not the water heating.) If you picked up the pot, the noise would stop. I called Bunn and they had heard of the issue and said to put 5 pennies on the burner to lift up the pot from the burner. What!!?? LOL, it worked a little bit, but after spending $518 for a new professional in-line water coffee pot for our office’s conference room, having these sounds coming out of the machine in the middle of meetings was embarrassing.
Metamorphic coffee pot! Apparently, this Bunn decanter is made of glass with a black handle during its pupal phase.By the time it arrived (quickly, I might add), it had reached the adult state: plastic, with a clear rim, shiny stainless steel abdomen, and orange handle! We can only hope Bunn decanters are holometabolic… I’d hate to come to the office and find my coffee pot munching on the power cables.Otherwise, this is an excellent decanter with a nice pouring spout and well balanced grip.I did need to post a sign to let coffee drinkers know that the orange handle is a bit of fake aposematic coloration… “Don’t worry. I’m not really decaf.” A little coffee pot theater.Overall, a great value!
