The coffeemaker brews up to 10 cups using a fast brewing method that thoroughly extracts the rich flavor and aroma from your ground coffee. The integrated Brita water filter also contributes to better-tasting coffee by screening out chlorine and other harsh minerals, plus it prevents calcification within the water tank. A marker on the top of the water tank helps you keep track of when the water filter needs to be changed. The AromaDeluxe’s digital display has a clock and a brewing indicator that allows you to program the machine to brew your coffee before you get out of bed in the morning. Other handy extras on this coffeemaker include a permanent gold-tone filter; a filter release button, which swings the detachable filter basket open for filling or easy cleaning; and a Pause and Serve feature, which stops the brewing while you pour yourself a cup of coffee midway through a cycle. For safety, the glass carafe has a comfortable, nonslip handle with an open design to accommodate larger hands. Excellent As a similar reviewer had experienced – I broke the carafe on my old Braun coffee maker. $25 for a new carafe vs $45 for a whole new coffee maker. Planned Obsolescence? This is a very delayed review. I probably bought my last last Braun unit five – six years ago and it has since been replaced by a Cuisinart brand that my wife and I like very much. This Braun unit was the second Braun Auto-Brew Coffee pot that we have owned over many years. Use Paper Filters and Don’t Brew Entire Carafe For the most part, I am very happy with the KF580. The timer is great, the coffee is very hot, and I find the consistency to be very good. I love the fact that you can easily remove the swing-out filter basket. I don’t like the permanent gold-tone filter that came with mine because it doesn’t sufficiently filter the normal grind coffee I use (i.e., standard canned coffee).
